Due to the number of Adoption Applications that we are receiving we are limiting the number of dogs that we are advertising for adoption. Pre-approved applicants work with our adoption team to be matched to an available dog in rescue.

Small Breed Dogs

Small breed dogs rarely come into rescue and they are in very high demand. At SOHR, we have a wait list to adopt a small mixed breed dog. To be placed on our wait list, please submit an Adoption Application.

We do not have any designer breed or single breed dogs in our rescue.

Where our dogs come from

98% of our dogs come into rescue from indigenous communities in Manitoba where the predominant breeds are husky/lab/shepherd/collie mixes. They are made in Manitoba mixed breed mutts and are most often large sized mixed breed dogs.
